Yep, that's right, it's official.......we are no longer newlyweds! We can hardly believe it. We went back to the "scene of the crime" and spent a night at the Radisson, where we got married. We got the exact same room we had the night of the wedding. It was fabulous! There was 2 rooms, and a whirlpool tub. I got there early and ordered a bottle of champagne. When Bobby got there after work, we went to Axel's restaurant for dinner. I had never eaten there, with the exception of our rehearsal dinner. We had a coupon for a free appetizer. When we had our food tasting last year, our catering manager (the second of 3) gave it to my parents since they had never been to Axel's. But since my parents still hadn't used it and it didn't expire, we got to use it! Then, when our plates were being cleared, the waiter asked if we saved room for dessert. I made a little comment of "honey, it's our anniversary, come on!" ;) So the waiter came back with the dessert tray and said "it's on the house". So we got a Bailey's white chocolate cake, which we will be devouring tonight! We just got to have a relaxing night together and celebrate the last year we've been through as husband and wife.
Today we had lunch at Joe Sensor's and went shopping for a new mattress! Thanks to a generous gift from Bobby's grandparents we were finally able to get the Queen sized mattress that I've been DYYYYYYYING for! We have a full now, which is Bobby's old mattress, and I need just a tad more space so I don't wake up scrunched with muscle aches. Bobby and my brother will be putting all of that together on Friday. We're opting to pick it up ourselves to save the fee.
Tomorrow we're both working and then heading to Lakeville for New Year's Eve at Josh and Anna's house. It's a small group this year. We were hoping to have it at our place, but maybe next year. We have a good time with Bobby's friends, but I'm in need of a change of scenery. So maybe next year we can all go out or just have it at our place instead. We'll be spending the night at Pat's so we don't have to drive back up here then stopping by my parents' house for their small New Year's Day party.
Happy New Year's everyone!

Only 2 days left to be newlyweds!
Christmas came and went.... wow that was fast! I feel like every year I try and savor it as long as I can and then it's just over! We spent a nice day at Pat's on Christmas Day and got lots of nice gifts. Including an iTrip from Bobby! I've been asking for one since I got my iPod last Christmas, so yay!
Yesterday was spent recovering from all of the stress that we shouldn't have had to deal with. But unfortunately, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. I worked a few hours this morning and relaxed the rest of the day. Because our anniversary AND New Year's is next week I had to move some hours around so I'm working this weekend and next weekend to make up a few hours.
Speaking of our anniversary.... I cannot believe it will be a year on Monday! I was driving by the Radisson on my way to work today and remembering meeting Millie and Jennifer early that morning and driving to the salon and being so tired, but so high on excitement! It really was the best day of my life. It was kind of like Christmas, we anticipated it for so long and then just like THAT it was over! But since our wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, I remember that Bobby and I took a moment or two to take everything in that day. I think this holiday season it finally hit me that we are in fact married. That sounds kind of silly but I hear that from a lot of my married friends, that it takes some time for it to really sink in. Sometimes it is a big event, or a tragedy, or just hitting the first anniversary. For me, it was reaching our first Christmas as a married couple. We actually got to completely enjoy Christmas this year (go figure, last year was a little hectic, LOL). Yeah, we've been through a LOT this year and have spent most of the year stressed out and struggling, but in the last 4 months or so, we've been incredibly blessed. Getting through those challenges together as a team and then really being able to celebrate the rewards and successes was amazing. And now we're reaching our first anniversary and it's so great to look back on the year and know that we can do anything as long as we're together.
So it's official.... I actually feel like Mrs. Robert Pflugh. I've been walking around as Sarah Pflugh all year, but I really do feel like a wife now and I love it, every little bit of it!

The most wonderful time of the year!
By request from my dear friend Lauren....here's an update!
It's Christmas Eve! It really is my favorite time of the year. We've had a busy December. Like I mentioned in the last blog, we went to Winona the first weekend for our friend Ryan's birthday. Then 2 weekends ago, my best friend, Millie and her husband, Jeron had their first Christmas party. It was tons of fun with lots of food and good friends! I'm so blessed to have Millie in my life and that Bobby and I both get along with her friends. The girls played Catch Phrase and had drinks while the guys went downstairs and played poker. Earlier that day I went to Mall of America with Kara to do some Christmas shopping while Bobby helped his mom with her tree and they got to spend a little time together alone. They don't get that opportunity very much since we don't live that close. Then on Saturday of that weekend we had a party here for my dad's 60th birthday! Can you believe he's 60?!?! I can't! It was again lots of good food and good friends!
Last weekend we had quite the snow storm here. We decided that Saturday was going to be just staying in with blankets, movies, games and hot chocolate. It was a really fun day and SO relaxing!!
And now it's Christmas Eve! My family will be coming to our place again this year this afternoon. Then my parents, brother and both of us will be going to the 11 PM church service at Incarnation. The choir is singing at that service, so I had to be there anyway. But now that my family is going, the church couldn't find an interpreter....so guess who's interpreting the service?? Yep, ME! So it will be a very longgggg day!
Tomorrow I'm working just a few hours and then it's off to Lakeville for the night! Again, lots of good food and good friends at Pat's house!
Hopefully we'll have some new pictures soon for our page....and maybe I'll even figure out how to customize it and make it prettier! Merry Christmas to everyone!

The holidays have arrived!
Happy Holidays everyone!!
Our holiday season started off in a quite eventful way. This year we did dual Thanksgivings. We were supposed to be at Pat's at noon, then Kara had to go to the ER and we didn't know how long she would be there (everything is fine by the way, it was something minor). So we planned to postpone until a couple of days later. Well, she ended up being there for just a couple of hours, so Bobby and I headed to Lakeville and Pat walked us through what needed to be done by phone. We did a good chunk of the cook prep while Pat was out. Then they came back and we had a delicious dinner! Then it was off to my parents' house.
Thanksgiving also fell on my brother's birthday this year. So we had pie AND ice cream cake! More yummy food there, even though we were more stuffed than we could express! My grandma had emergency surgery the week before and was in the nursing home. She wasn't feeling the best so she didn't come to dinner but we all went to see her after dinner and spend some time with her.
Friday morning it was time for SHOPPING! Yes, my mom and I are nuts and we went to Rosedale. We got there about 6:30, so we weren't there first thing at 4 AM, no way! We got lots of great deals, I did some Christmas shopping and got a few things for myself! Friday night Bobby and I went to Faribault with my friend Karen to celebrate my friend Angie's birthday. Saturday we did more shopping then went to my brother's birthday party at his house.
We definitely had a busy weekend! But we got to spend time with the people we love the most. Now we're 2 weeks into December and I am LOVING it! This is my favorite time of year (hence why we got married 4 days after Christmas!) Our decorations are up and the cookies will be baked this weekend. We're going to our first holiday party on Friday and we're hosting one on Saturday. Well, it's really a 60th birthday party for my dad, but we're throwing in a little holiday cheer for good measure.
Happy Holidays to all and enjoy this fabulous time of year!!

One year has passed......
Today is a strange day for us. One year ago, Bobby's dad, John, passed away from brain cancer. We had a long time to prepare ourselves for it, but no time is really ever enough. We only had a short time to grieve because we had the wedding to get ready for. When we found out he had Stage 4, terminal brain cancer, we immediately went through our options for moving up the wedding so he could be there. However, he was adamant, he did not want us to move the wedding. We didn't know what would happen, or if he would make it, but we had to respect his wishes.
He was a loved man and had more friends than I can even remember. I'm sure I could make a list of all of the people I knew and I'd be missing over half of them. As a family, all of the Pflugh's really went through a lot last year and grew much closer. I was able to meet and get to know most of the family, and although it was under horrible circumstances I feel so blessed that I had that opportunity.
Bobby and I have a great relationship, but our strength as a couple and my strength as his rock was certainly tested during this trying time. It taught us a lot about each other and we really are so much stronger now. We know we can get through just about anything.
To remember this amazing man, Bobby and I met up with his mom and sister. We did a little shopping and then went to Kincaid's for dinner. It was one of his top restaurants and we always have a great meal when we're there. We toasted to his life and shared memories that we have of him. It was not a sad time for us. He lived a very full life and impacted SO many people. From very early on, he made me feel like part of the family. After he got sick he was always telling me that he was so happy that Bobby had someone like me in his life, and oddly enough that made me feel at peace when he died. He was such a great man and a respected man. We all miss him so, but know that he is in a better place after all he went through last year. We miss you John and still love you every day.

Happy, happy, happy!
Well.... the news finally came....
Sarah is NIC Certified!! For those of you who don't know what that means.... it's like passing the bar for a lawyer or boards for a nurse. I've been working as an interpreter since I graduated in 2007, but now I am certified which means I'll be accepted for more work and it also means I qualify as having the skills necessary to be a good interpreter. Technically my certification is NIC-Advanced, which is really good. There's NIC, NIC-Advanced and NIC-Master. So I won't have to take any certification for a longggggggg time. I'll eventually go for NIC-Master, but not for a while.
We went to Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse in Maple Grove to celebrate and it was awesome! Then we went to Verizon and got me a Blackberry Curve! We've been looking at them for a while, and now we decided to go for it. Bobby will get his super-discount in a couple weeks so he has to wait on getting one for now. But now that I'll be doing more freelance and won't be at home near a computer all the time, a Blackberry is necessary.
So yay!

Life back to normal?
Well, we obviously had a rough week last week.....
I was able to be distracted for a while by going to Faribault, MN for the Homecoming at the MN State Academy for the Deaf (where my brother went). I went with Cassie and Tarra and we had a great time!! We met up with my parents and just got to hang out and see old friends. It was a little weird because I saw a few of my "clients" in the interpreting world that I normally don't see out and about, but it was still super fun!
Karen and I had a chance to have lunch Sunday, just the two of us. We did our "usual", Chili's for chips & salsa, chicken tacos and molten lava cake. It was nice to be able to talk about Krista and the whole surrealness of last week. I honestly feel blessed that I'm able to be there for her and just listen or distract her. That might sound weird, but I don't know what else to do. Krista was amazing and she will be terribly missed, but it hasn't effected me in the way it has for Karen, so I feel like by helping her get through the pain, it's my way of remembering Krista....sounds weird, but it's true.
The work week is almost over!! We're having Pat and Kara over for dinner tonight, so that will be fun! Of course we need to clean.....gross! But it'll be a nice afternoon of errands and spending time together before the family comes over.
Have a great weekend!

Sad reality
Well.... we went to Winona last week, unfortunately not under happy circumstances. One of my sorority sisters, Krista Meyer, was killed in a car accient on Oct. 5. She was the president both years I was in Phi Theta Chi. Then she lived with my good friend Karen for a year after we all graduated. We weren't extremely close, but I would definitely call her a friend. She was the most welcoming person with the biggest heart. The world is missing out on an amazing person. It was so sad to see all of my sisters who were totally heartbroken.
We just saw her 3 weeks ago at Homecoming and it was so great to see her and just hang out at tne VFW. It's still quite a shock and absolutely devastating.
Rest in peace Krista, so many people loved you and will miss you dearly.

Warriors for life!
Last weekend was Homecoming at WSU, so Bobby and I had to go pay a visit! I stayed with my girl, Ryan and Bobby was at her boyfriend, Sean's place. Sean is one of Bobby's frat brothers and luckily I get along really well with his girlfriend, Ryan. We went down early on Friday to see people I used to work with and to get a transcript for Bobby to send to St. Mary's. We got to see the new Maxwell, which is HUGE! The Admissions office doesn't even look the same anymore! It's amazing! We then went up to the "hub" which is where the registrar's, financial aid, cashier, etc are at. It was quite odd to see the changes, but it looks great!
We went to the VFW to hang out with people and it was like I was back in Junior year! All the people I pledged in with from TKE were there and some of the older Phi Thets, it was pretty awesome. Saturday was the parade, and LOTS of gnats! The TKE's reserved the VFW for the afternoon, and that was so much fun! We grabbed a bite to eat and then took it easy the rest of the night. It was so nice to see old friends! I'm still unsure about next year. I know I won't be THAT old, but it felt kind of weird going back this year, so next year may not be much better.
HEROES is on tonight.... just a side note! YAY!

Star Wars....FINALLY
I've finally seen all of the Star Wars movies! I saw the new 3 when they came out in the theaters....then Bobby and I finally sat down this week and watched the original 3. I bought him the box-set a few years ago, so it was about time! Now I want to go back and watch all 6 from the beginning again!
"Heroes" season 3 starts next Monday! YAY!! Cannot wait!!!

First day back.........
Today was my first day back at Anoka Tech....wow it was weird! Although, it felt like I never left! I'm only there for 4 weeks, so I'll soon be back at SVRS at my regular hours!
So....when Bobby went on his camping trip...someone had an accident in his car, and it smelled like Lysol and pee for a couple days. Yeah, it was lovely. Luckily he found a place nearby that would detail and clean it for him on a walk-in basis, so it's all better now! WHEW! But it was pretty bad for a couple days there.
In other news, Bobby's cousin Chris finally welcomed his baby girl Willa Jane into the world! Many congrats to Chris, Crystal and new grandparents Aunt Jo and Uncle Kevin!! Now we're just waiting for his cousin Jen to pop out that beautiful baby boy! Cousin Kyla's son Triston just turned 1...that's 3 babies in just over a year..... geesh! That's a lot of Pflugh babies! Ummm.... yeah, don't be looking to us for the next one! Unless you're willing to wait a while..... :-)
Overall, things are great with us! We're having some of my ITP friends over tomorrow night, and spending Saturday just hanging out and relaxing. Yay for a day off!!

The weekend is almost over.... :(
But Bobby's home! He's home from the camping trip and he is exhausted! I was at church all morning, the choir sang in 2 services and then I had the second half of my confirmation guide training. Both of us are experiencing allergies and it is NO fun! I woke up congested and with a scratchy throat which made me nervous because I am a first Soprano in the choir.... which means high notes! But all went well and now I can relax tonight. I'm so glad I don't have to work tonight.... I need a break! I have a full work week ahead of me and I start at Anoka Tech on Thursday, so I need to be careful that I don't over do it and take care of my body.
Have a fabulous Sunday.....and bring on the work week!

House to myself!
Well Bobby left this morning to go on his camping trip with work. He isn't very far away, but it'll be far enough away for the clients. I went to downtown Stillwater today with my mom, Pat and Kara. We ate at this little dive called Whitey's, I had Walleye strips, which were really yummy! Then we just walked around and checked out all the little shops. Pat got a few Christmas gifts already! I know, I know, it's not even Halloween, but they were pretty much the perfect gift for the friends she bought them for!
Then mom and I went to Maplewood mall for Macy's big sale. Unfortunately, I didn't score anything at Macy's, I was looking for bedding. We still don't have anything in the colors we want. We have the sheets, but not the comforter. But we went to New York and Company and Bath & Body Works.....got some MAJOR deals!! I have 2 pairs of jeans that I wear regularly, when I'm not in work clothes of course. And as usual, my NY&C jeans were worn so frequently that I rubbed a hole in the inner thigh of the pant....so I went to NY&C to replace them. I had a 30% off coupon from my mom, PLUS the jeans were on sale (which I didn't know about) AND I got the earrings to match a necklace I bought a few weeks ago. I barely spent any money, it was fantastic! Then went to Bath and Body Works and scored some hand soap! I love it when you just stumble upon amazing deals when all you were doing was just routine shopping/replacing of items. :)
Now, Bre is on her way over and we're taking advantage of me having the house to myself to possibly watch some chick flicks! Of course I hate being away from Bobby, but it's nice to have a night with just the girls sometimes! Happy weekend!
We may not have kids.....BUT
We'd like to think we have enough common sense to know when someone is a bad parent. For example.... we went to Cold Stone last night for a little treat. As we were going to sit outside, we hear this mom yelling at her daughter. She couldn't have been more than 6 years old and the mom is saying "If you had just quite your bitchin, you'd realize we were going to get ice cream anyway!" Then she sees us as they're going into the store and she says "Don't have kids you guys, I'm serious," as her daughter is RIGHT THERE! HELLO! Who does that?!?!
This is why some kids grow up with low self-esteem, their parents are constantly putting them down!
Yes, this is the second post today, but Bobby really wanted me to post that!

The school year has begun!
Now that it's September, it also means school has started. I will be spending a few weeks at Anoka Tech interpreting for a student that I also worked with last year. I'm looking forward to it because I've been out of the schools for 4 months. I do love my work at Sorenson, but it'll be a nice change for a few weeks. I'll be working at VRS Sundays and Mondays until the class ends on October 2. This weekend, Bobby is going with workers and residents from all of the houses on a camping trip. EEK! It'll be a great experience for him, but it will also come with a lot of responsibility.
Things have been going really well for us. We have had some struggles over the summer and have had to face some challenges, but we've been through a LOT in our 5 years together, so everything just keeps making us stronger. I always say God never gives me more than I can handle, so I just keep remembering that and know that I can always take a moment to pray if things get a little out of hand.
We miss our out-of-town family and friends so much! We hope that we can get out to visit more of you next year! With the shock of fast rising gas prices this year, taking road trips was out of the question. But things are more on track with our jobs and we'd love to see all of you!!
